Tips for Transitioning Senior Pastors

I am stepping into the lead pastor role and would love the best tips for transitioning into the role and how to lead the church forward.

The larger something is, the slower you need to make the turn. Honor what was given to you – honor what has been built because there will be some things that you want to change. 

The most important part are the meetings before the meeting. Build a coalition of people that are influencers in the organization and let them know what the change will be. They will be ambassadors for you once the change takes place. Meet with people over lunch or coffee and ask them to help you, when you launch you want people that are with you and cheering on the change.
