Giving Difficult Feedback
How do you approach giving difficult feedback to your team, especially those who do not receive feedback well?
The whole premise of discipleship is giving difficult feedback. A low grade on a test doesn't mean you failed, it means you weren’t ready for the test. It reveals an area that needs to be addressed. Expectations should be set and clear on the front end of your vision and values.
You will have to train them to know that it’s not a personal offense to them. Build a secure environment for it— “You will stay in your position”. If they take it personally, they are hearing the wrong thing, we are trying to get better, not devaluing them.
Build an Instant feedback culture with a mindset of growth and constructive criticism. It's not about them or me, it's about what is best for the organization and the Church. Everything is a US failure and success
