Encouraging Volunteer Involvement

How do we encourage people to volunteer?

They need it more than you need them. This statement emphasizes the importance of understanding that individuals are often seeking purpose and fulfillment in their lives. Your role is not merely to recruit volunteers or participants; rather, it is to inspire and encourage people to embrace and pursue the call of God on their lives. This means recognizing and affirming their unique gifts and potential, helping them see how they can contribute meaningfully to continue fulfilling their purpose.

Instead of simply addressing their current problems, introduce them to a vision or mission that is larger than their day-to-day struggles. By doing so, you provide them with a sense of purpose and direction, which can lead to profound personal growth and satisfaction.

It's crucial to avoid manipulation in this process. Asking someone to serve in a role that does not align with their natural gifts or passions can lead to frustration and disengagement. When individuals are placed in situations where they feel out of their depth or lack enthusiasm, they are unlikely to remain committed for long.
