Disclosing Church Finances
How do you recommend disclosing church finances? Do you recommend making it public? Waiting till congregants ask? An annual meeting of sorts? Or another means?
When Highlands was a young church, there was an annual business meeting in January after finances were reconciled. We do an independent audit of our finances every year. The cash flow report is available to church members upon request. Percentages interpret better than dollar amounts. If they could see how every dollar was spent, they would be proud of their church and not embarrassed by it.
The more information they get, the better it is for me. If they could see what their church is doing, they will give more.
